Lisa Gold is an actress, author, speaker and entrepreneur growing
up in a show business family and encouraged from day one by her
comedian father and hilarious, though non-performing, mother. A graduate
of the acclaimed North Carolina School of the Arts, she also attended
the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music before
leaving to study acting privately with renown acting teachers Gordon
Hunt and Darryl Hickman. Working professionally since age 16, she
has made an income from acting or singing every year since, performing
for Presidents, Astronauts (the 20th anniversary of the first lunar
landing) and audiences worldwide. A member of SAG, AFTRA and EQUITY,
her resume credits include a long list of well known musicals, as
well as some groundbreaking new works headed for Broadway, television
(most recently the Emmy Award winning daytime drama All My Children),
commercials and print.
A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE
As every actor seeks a “flexible day job”,
Lisa and business partner Tony Nation became the proud owners of
Actors Connection in the year 2000. Then a small mom and pop networking
facility, Actors Connection has since grown into the #1 Networking/Educational
studio in New York. From the experience gained over the years
being in the heart of the business of show, the need and desire
of actors seeking vital connections became tremendously apparent.
Though so many had been successful gaining representation, getting
auditions and wonderful jobs, Lisa saw that so many more could have
better results armed with the knowledge and information she garnered
after years of relationships with these agents and casting directors.
Her own career took a dramatic shift from performer and business
owner to wanting to make a bigger contribution to the artist community.
NEW VISTAS
Applying this “insider” information
along with active networking, Lisa saw would obviously lead to greater
career success and so in 2009, she decided to create a new company
called Act Outside the Box. Turning her attention to leading seminars
on the business of the business with enthusiasm, inspiration and
motivation, Lisa delivers vital information not taught in traditional
college theatre programs and seemingly, no where else. Taking basic
strategies used in traditional advertising and marketing and applying
them to a show business career has led many actors to feel liberated
and powerful. These actors report that now having a plan of action
and “knowing” what they can do to forward their own
careers puts them at cause in the matter instead of waiting
for their “big break”.
MISSION AND VISION
Lisa’s underlying purpose in everything
she does is to end the “Starving Artist” syndrome by
aligning with like-minded individuals and entities who believe creative
artists deserve to make a great living at their chosen profession.
This comes from her great passion and desire to make a contribution
to as many people as possible so that their desires become reality.
Living the dream instead of dreaming the dream are what Act Outside
the Box and Lisa Gold are bringing to actors daily!
MEMBERSHIPS AND ORGANIZATIONS
Lisa is a proud member and contributor both to
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and
The Humane Society. She is also a member of New York Women
in Film and Television and gives of her time and talents as a singer
to Vocal Ease, a non-profit organization that brings cabaret performances
to the elderly in retirement facilities. On the advisory board
for I Can Still Do That, an online community of mutual mentors,
Lisa also brings her producing skills to the monthly in person events
